The 5 Best Hostels in Buenos Aires

Best hostels in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires is a huge city with countless cool neighborhoods. Finding out where to stay isn’t always easy. But if you’re planning on staying at a hostel in Buenos Aires, you can consider one of the options below. These are our personal favorites.

Viajero Buenos Aires

Perfect for: Socializing & activities

The best hostel in Buenos Aires overall is Viajero – no doubt. Located in the neighborhood of San Telmo, this is a very spacious hostel with a great staff. They have different activities every night, ranging from tango classes to pub crawls.

They also have an incredible breakfast, a bar/restaurant on site, kitchen facilities you can use, a swimming pool, luggage storage and much more.

People who stay there tend to be friendly and with the daily activities, socializing is easy. We recommend Viajero to every traveler who wants a good time. The hostel is pricier than most others, but we feel that it’s well worth the money. If you want privacy, book a private room. The dorms are more than fine, though!

Che Juan BA

Perfect for: Comfort & affordability

Che Juan is another of our favorite hostels in Buenos Aires. The dorms are very affordable with prices starting at $8/night.

It is located in the most central part of the city – the Microcentro – near many of the main attractions.

We feel that the hostel is more quiet than the other options in the city. Very well organized and it probably has the most comfortable beds. They all come with curtains which is obviously nice for privacy. There are some arranged activities, but not on the same level as Viajero.

Overall, Che Juan is perfect for more introverted travelers visiting Buenos Aires on a budget. Or those who simply want maximum comfort while staying in a hostel.

Selina Palermo

Perfect for: Remote working

Selina is located in the most trendy part of the city, Palermo Soho. This neighborhood is full of bars, restaurants, shops and cultural centers. It has fewer classic attractions, but that’s okay since you can easily get around the city anyway.

This hostel has a co-working space, making it ideal for digital nomads and travelers who have to work online while staying in Buenos Aires. The facilities are generally excellent and so is the internet.

The reception is open 24/7 and you have both dorms and private rooms to choose from!

America del Sur Hostel

Perfect for: Eating & guided tours

America del Sur is a really good chain of hostels – they also have an excellent one in Patagonia.

We really liked their Buenos Aires hostel as well. In many ways it feels similar to Viajero (our primary recommendation) so it works as a great alternative when Viajero is fully booked, or if you simply prefer America del Sur.

Some reasons to choose this hostel are its free tours, social dinners and BBQ area, plus the wonderful help their staff provides whenever you need tickets or passes to any activities in Buenos Aires.

Definitely recommended, and the hostel has a great location for exploring the most traditional parts of Buenos Aires as it is located in beautiful San Telmo.

Milhouse Hostel Avenue

Perfect for: Location & comfort

With a location on the iconic Avenida de Mayo, you’ll always have great transportation options nearby. As well as an incredible cultural life, especially during the day when that area gets extremely busy.

We like Milhouse Hostel Avenue for its modern design and comfort. The rooms are really well designed, there’s a huge common area with food and drinks, plus a rooftop and other places to hang out.

The only downside is that this hostel is on the pricier side, costing a bit more than average compared to most Buenos Aires hostels. But if you don’t mind paying extra for comfort, location and a very good social environment, we recommend it. Milhouse has more private rooms than the other hostels in the city.
